Half Primary Class with Tristana, Vinyasa & Breath + Q&A

The breath controls the mind, the mind controls the body - so said the ancient Yogis and it still holds true today.

In this class we will take an attentive look at the underlying principles which sets us up for a healing, successful and enjoyable Ashtanga practice. A core principle of the Ashtanga practice is coordination between breathing and movement, also called Vinyasa, as well as an engaged and awake mind. We will explore these internal principles by slowly working through a half primary series practice.

Appropriate for all levels of Yoga practitioner including non-Ashtanga students.

Jumping, Walking, Rolling, and Floating - Transitions in Practice

In Ashtanga’s Vinyasa style practice, we spend almost as much time transitioning between postures as we do holding these individually. In this workshop, we will explore the many types of transitions we experience in practice. Starting with floating in Surya Namaskara, then to the illusive (and challenging) seated jump throughs and jump backs, and finally into the more complex entrances to arm balances and inversions. We will understand how and where to use strength and stability while creating lightness and ease in the body and mind. Come with a sense of adventure!

All levels are welcome, including non-Ashtanga students.
